Foods and Nutrition I – Class Overview
Students in Foods and Nutrition I will study the principles of nutrition and the relationship of nutrition to individual health, fitness, and wellness. Teacher-demonstrations and guided laboratory experiences will enable your child to gain skills in food safety and sanitation, food storage, use of preparation techniques, healthy menu selection, and preparation. There is a $40.00 lab fee for this class. Your child will also have the opportunity to join and participate in FCCLA (Family, Career, and Consumer Leaders of America).
Students, in Nutrition and Foods, are expected to prepare 10 recipes at home. This is part of their Home Cooking Assignment and is due at the end of the semester. They have been given the information on this project. If you have any questions you may reach me at lcerbu@scsk12.org.
